EDINBURGH
UNIVERSITY OLD COLLEGE
The building was begun in 1789 but not completed or significantly
populated due to economic reasons
brought about by the Napoleonic Wars and the death of the principal
architect Robert Adams.
Subsequent funding and the appointment of William Henry Playfair
to continue building according to the original plans meant
that by 1827 the school was complete but for a library added
a few years later and dome added
in 1887.
